Sea Turtle Nesting at Gumbo Limbo

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center provides information about sea turtle nesting and hatching season which lasts Mar. 1 until Oct. 31. Every morning during sea turtle nesting season, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center employees and marine turtle specialists survey sea turtle tracks and look for nests. After observing the tracks, the specialists determine which turtle species made the tracks. Once a nest is located, the specialists mark off the area with flagging tape. State’s cases rise by 7,939, most in 2 months; deaths’ increase 84 vs. 42 day before

Florida's coronavirus cases increased by 7,939, the most since 8,525 on Feb. 11 and one day after 5,885, as deaths rose by 84, the 13th day in a row under triple digits, including 42 Wednesday, the Florida Health Department announced Thursday afternoon. Palm Beach County man helps keep beaches clean

Palm Beach County is thanking a local man for his help to keep our local beaches clean.Andy Abbot partnered with Palm Beach County to help create stations for anyone to grab a bucket and collect trash while at the beach.What started as a pilot program a year ago grew to 25 stations being built in 15 different parks"It worked so well we gave him the green light to do all of our parks," Abbot said.Director of Parks and Recreations Eric Call said Abbot builds the stations and installs them.Abbot said they are currently working with other city's and town to put other stations in beaches and parks"All along the east coast, I'm getting calls from Long Island from Virginia," Abbot said.The county recognized Abbot for his volunteer efforts with a certificate of appreciation. Dogs rescued from Texas up for adoption at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue

The Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League said more than 50 dogs rescued from Texas last month are now up for adoption. The group led a rescue effort in early March to save 70 dogs from Texas shelters whose water and heat had been destroyed due to winter storms. More than 50 of the dogs then went to the Peggy Adams shelter in West Palm Beach with the rest going to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County. All of the dogs have received medical examinations and are ready to find their forever homes.
